Job Description:
The Employment Advocate is responsible for collaborating with the EDP & Volunteering team to provide pre-employment development, placement, and support services to all program participants either on community/volunteer sites or in OSBI program sites in response to DDS and One Step Beyond Inc.

The Employment Advocate responsibilities include addressing the needs, interests, aptitudes, and Individual support plan (ISP) Goals and Objectives of all participants participating in Program, which includes daily/weekly/monthly curriculum delivery, assistance in development of community partners to provide pre-employment job training at pre-employment community/volunteer job sites and all other means to advance program goals achievement, responsiveness to participants, and continuous improvement.
The Job Coach will be instrumental in teaching our participants appropriate employment skills and behavior and will closely support participants as they progress and learn their jobs efficiently, safely and successfully.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Must have or be able to obtain FBI/DOJ/CA State background check Experience working with individuals with intellectual disability or a similar population requiring attention and compassionate care Ability to gain knowledge and implement practices that show attention to compassionate and safe supervision of individuals with intellectual disability.
Good driving record must pass CA DMV Employer Pull Notice
Responsibilities:
Provide instruction and implementation of EDP curriculum to program participants in employment readiness skills, job search skills, successful workplace behaviors, employable job skills, and work-related functional literacy skills.
Consider safety and proactive supervision when supporting participants by assisting and accompanying them on campus or community activities.
Provide transportation to and accompany participants to community volunteer and employment sites and all community-based activities, to observe performance, oversee work training, and provide instruction and assistance accordingly.
Document progress daily and report on program participant progress to Pre-vocational Supervisor Model and demonstrate appropriate behavior management techniques with program participants.
Consider the welfare, growth and development of program participants as a top priority in all organizational and program decision making, planning, and development, and model and demonstrate appropriate behavior management techniques with program participants.
Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with participants and parents/guardians to address concerns, maintain positive relationships, and serve as an advocate for participants and a resource for parents/guardians.
Handle difficult situations with a positive attitude by actively seeking problem resolution, creative solutions, and program and organizational enhancements to ensure individual and team performance as well as program effectiveness.
Motivate participants to achieve effective collaborative interaction and mutual respect and encourage self-determination.
Continuously evaluate program effectiveness and assist supervisor to implement improvements and adjustments to program strategies.
