Data Engineer, DMBI
We are growing our world-class team of mission-driven risk managers who are passionate about broadening financial inclusion by untapping insights from alternative data. Be part of the team responsible for developing and running Oportun's marketing optimization platform that leverage Oportun's core intellectual property for scoring risk for underserved consumers that often lack a traditional credit score or are mis-scored by traditional credit bureaus. In this role you will be working with large and diverse alternative data sets and machine learning to execute multi-product and multi-channel marketing programs. You will also drive growth and optimize marketing spend across multiple products and channels by leveraging alternative data to help predict which consumers would likely be interested in one of Oportun's affordable, credit building lending products. We're seeking a hands-on Analytics Data Engineer that can design, code and provide architecture solutions for the team. Responsibilities Work with a diverse set of business data domains to design and build data solutions for analytics and business data users Build and maintain complex data integrations for internal and external data Maintain the data domain metadata and data catalog Develop a strong contextual knowledge of the data in use to provide accurate and effective data solutions Create and review technical and user-focused documentation for data solutions (data models, data dictionaries, business glossaries, process and data flows, architecture diagrams, user guides, etc.) Design and execute strategies for real-time data analysis and decisioning Actively promote and enhance best practices, standards, and audits to certify and preserve high-quality data that is fit for purpose Become a subject matter expert on new Data Warehouse technologies, as well as provide recommendations on making improvements Own, troubleshoot and resolve incidents, including escalating and managing problems with vendors Engage with cross-functional teams to deeply understand requirements, insights, and needs Be open and willing to learn new skills! Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science/data processing or equivalent 2
years of experience with data development and data warehousing Experience with data analytics and preparing data for analytics data users Experience with cloud data warehouse platforms (Databricks, Redshift, and Big Query preferred) Experience with data visualization/BI platforms (Birst preferred) Experience with data transformation tools (Talend and dbt preferred) Expert in SQL and highly capable in Python Experience with data pipeline tools Experience with orchestration and build automation tools (Jenkins, Harness, and Airflow preferred) Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results Ability to work in an Agile environment (Scrum, Lean, Kanban, etc) Outstanding communication and problem-solving skills Knowledge of finance and lending preferred Knowledge of customer data integration and customer data platforms preferred
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
