Overview Oportun is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join the Risk/Fraud engineering team. The Risk/Fraud engineering team is responsible for developing our Risk and Fraud engine that screens applications for fraud and evaluates our applicants credit worthiness to determine if they qualify for a loan. Unlike traditional lenders, our Risk and Fraud engine contains proprietary models that are data-driven from multiple sources and apply machine learning techniques to score our applicants effectively. We feel that this innovative approach better serves our target market and allows for us to quickly adapt as we collect more data from our applicants to achieve our mission. Responsibilities Responsible for creating innovative solutions that meet not only functional, but also performance, scalability and reliability requirements. Responsible for decision-oriented tooling and UX. Highly motivated self-starter who loves ownership and responsibility while working in a collaborative and interdependent team environment. Work with multiple teams of engineers to develop and test major software and systems components using an agile, vertical-slice based methodology. Work with QA to ensure product meets high quality standards. Qualifications 5
years' experience in core JAVA technologies including:
Spring Framework, Hibernate, and Enterprise Integration Patterns. 1
years' UX development using Angular 2
years' experience with relational DBs like MySQL and NoSQL Database like MongoDB 1
years' experience working with Cloud providers such as AWS, Google, or Azure Experieince developing rules in BRMS (Business Rules Management System) Experience working with version control using GIT/BitBucket. Experience in the design of new systems or the redesign of existing systems to meet business requirements, changing needs, or newer technology. The ability to work with and mentor other software engineers. Preferred Skills:
Experience with Drools Experience with statistical models for Risk such as linear regression Experience with Groovy Experience with Search technologies like Solr/Lucene Experience in financial services B.S. in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field #LI-SA1
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Software DevelopmentEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
